Building on a great tradition and now with Gustavo Dudamel at the helm, the LA Phil spotlights music from across North and South America and explores the eclectic musical traditions born from our unique blending of cultures, religions and landscapes. 
AMERICAS & AMERICANS takes place on July 25, 26 with Gloria Estefan; the 29 with Rubén Blades and the 31 with Noche de Cine: Film composers from North and South.

Después de la sentida partida de Chavela Vargas, tres de las cantantes más reconocidas de México se reunieron en el Carnegie Hall para rendirle un muy merecido tributo. Tres generaciones representadas por Ely Guerra, Tania Libertad y Eugenia León, departieron con el público neoyorquino su amor por La Chamana interpretando sus canciones originales y sus más conocidas interpretaciones incluyendo Piensa en mi, La Llorona, Volver volver, Tu me acostumbraste, y todo el repertorio conocido al pie de la letra por muchos.

Qué noche amigos!. Generaciones y generaciones de latinos hemos crecido escuchando estas canciones y el efecto es, hoy que ya no está presente, mucho más poderoso. La influencia de Chavela Vargas se extiende a incontable número de artistas y como me lo ha dicho Eugenia León en nuestra conversación, Chavela era 'mucho más que su voz', era su persona, su vida, 'su lucha que era nuestra lucha; su voz, que era nuestra voz.'

Les comparto las fotos que tomé de Eugenia León y Ely Guerra durante la entrevista que les hice y un par de fotos junto a Tania Libertad, cuando se despedían del público después de su concierto en el Carnegie Hall en homenaje a La Chamana.

JOSE FELICIANO HOLIDAY CONCERTS

José Feliciano continues with his holiday concert tour. Today he will perform at the Paramount Theatre en Rutland, VT, on Dec 20 at Nash Theatre- North Branch, NJ (Raritan Valley Area) and on dec 25 with a TV Performance on ABC’s “Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade, performing 'Feliz Navidad' ... a classic… In fact, "Feliz Navidad" gets more radio play than any other Christmas song in the country” says CBS Sunday Morning.
José Feliciano already had much to rejoice about this year: winning the LATIN GRAMMY Award for “Best Contemporary Tropical Album”, once again exploring the music of Mexico with the release of new album “Con México en el Corazón,” celebrating the 40th Anniversary of his landmark world series performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” and of course being asked to perform for over 60,000 people (and millions of TV viewers) at Pope Benedict XVI’s Papal Mass at Yankee Stadium.
