El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, who sold out the box office at Radio City this past September, comes back to New York along with the multifaceted Ruben Blades, the world's Sonero Oscar de León, Tito Rojas, the legendary Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz, Jose Alberto "El Canario" and Raulin Rosendo, for this one night only event.

Con más de 20 años haciendo salsa 'de la buena', la banda Bio Ritmo se impone más y más como uno de los mejores exponentes del ritmo. Nos visitaron en el SOB's durante su gira para promocionar La Verdad, su último disco (pueden ver > La Verdad ).

About: Some call Bio Ritmo salsa's best-kept secret, but that is changing. Though still not on everyone's radar, during the last twenty years they have been busy releasing critically acclaimed music and cultivating a solid fanbase. 

Here you have them performing SOMBRAS at SOB's, one of NYc's Latin music hangout par excellence.

ORQUESTA ARAGON HITS NUEVA YORK

A pillar of Cuban music for much of the last 80 years, Orquesta Aragon got its start when double bass man Orestes Aragon Cantero debuted his charanga group in Cinefuegos. With violins, piano, flute, percussion, and vocals, the basic sound that has served the band ever since was already in place. But the group's name would evolve, from Ritmica de 39 to Ritmica Aragon, and finally, by the end of 1940, to Orquesta Aragon. A socialist before socialism was cool, Cantero rejected stardom, and the group he created became a monument to musical collectivism, with equal pay for all, and a sound that is all about unity and ensemble work. Cantero once said, "I want to found a musical family. I'm not looking for virtuoso players but musicians with human qualities." He got both, and his band worked the lively seaside scene in Cinefuegos year after year. Following the musical explosions that went on in Cuba during the '90s, the band regrouped under the leadership of Rafeal Lay Junior, returning to its roots, and to the recording studio to create rich new albums: Quien Sabe Sabe (1997), La Charanga Eterna (1999), En Route (2001), and Por Siempre Aragon (2002). En Route received a Grammy nomination in the Tropical Music category, marking a new high water mark in a band history that just won't quit. Capable of appealing to a good three generations of Cuban music fans, Orquesta Aragon continues releasing albums and performing in both Cuba and the U.S. The band is now a veritable institution, likely to outlive us all.

Celebrating its 12th edition, the NY Salsa Congress brings salsa lovers from all over the world for a Labor Day weekend packed with parties, seminars, workshops, performances and concerts.
Highlights this year include 4 great concerts: Eddie Palmieri, Our Latin Thing, Larry Harlow and Boricua Legends.
The Salsa Congress will be hosted at The Hilton New York from August 29th to September 2nd.

'Para volver a empezar quiero darte esta verdad', dice le coro de la canción La Verdad del grupo Bio Ritmo. Y la verdad es que La Verdad se contagia como 'wild fire', como podrán ver en este video. Tremenda interpretación en el SOB's de NYC durante el lanzamiento oficial de este nuevo álbum, también llamado La Verdad. Veinte años de música no pasan en vano y Bio Ritmo, a sus 20, sigue marcando el paso en la evolución de la música Salsa. 
Este año he tenido la oportunidad de escuchar y grabar varios de los mejores grupos de música Latina tanto locales de NYC como visitantes de Europa y el resto de las Américas y ya han podido apreciar la riqueza de la oferta musical neoyorquina. Hoy añadimos a Bio Ritmo y La Verdad a la lista.

Más de 25 mil personas se esperan este fin de semana en la ciudad en el evento de esta naturaleza más grande del mundo. Desde aficionados al baile hasta los expertos, este festival se transforma en un fiestón que dura todo el fin de semana con seminarios, eventos y música en vivo y DJ's hasta las 4 AM.

Este año se añaden conciertos EN VIVO todas las noches: Mambo Legends (Viernes, Septiembre 2), Frankie Morales & The Mambo of the Times Orchestra and Charansalsa (Sábado, Septiembre 3), and Papo Pepin & Su Orchestra y para cerrar con broche de oro, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico (Domingo, Septiembre 4).   J.I. Starr de  97.9 LA MEGA será el conductor del evento. Además, el congreso difundirá información y recaudará fondos para The American Diabetes Association. 
A ponerse los zapatos y a lanzarse al ruedo salseros!
