I saw OCTUBRE as part of the recent New Directors/ New Films Festival at Moma and I loved it! This is a dark comedy that will put a smile in your face. It was for a reason that OCTUBRE won the Jury Prize of the "Un Certain Regard" section of the Cannes Film Festival 2010.
Co-directed by brothers Daniel and Diego Vega, OCTUBRE follows a small-time money-lender living in a Lima barrio who one day discovers a baby left on his doorstep. To care for the child, the product of one of his frequent liaisons with prostitutes, the man engages a female neighbor for help, and soon a new, unexpected family is formed.
OCTUBRE will be playing at Lincoln Center Cinemas and at the Angelika Film Center starting on May 6. No te la pierdas! Watch the trailer below.
