Un calendario repleto de eventos colmará la celebración de la 8va Semana Cultural de América Latina que se realiza del 14 al 25 de Noviembre. Muchas instituciones y grupos artísticos participan en diversos establecimientos culturales de la ciudad. Aqui tienen algunas recomendaciones:
MUSICA
* November 15
- REGIONAL DE NY: BRAZILIAN CHORO AT BARBES
The Regional de NY brings the sounds of Brazilian choro--the instrumental predecessor to samba--to Park Slope's Barbes! .
- TANGO LOVERS (ENAMORADOS DEL TANGO)

- WHIN MUSIC PROJECT - EL SISTEMA UPTOWN
Come to celebrate the successful first year of the Washington Heights and Inwood (WHIN) Music Project, an El Sistema-inspired music program for children and youth in New York City. Polly Ferman- Piano, Yael Acher "Kat" Modiano- Flute & electronics Ms. Ferman and Ms. Acher-Modiano are both internationally award winning and renown musicians. Their collaboration results in a unique performance that includes Traditional and Contemporary Tango, as well as Electro-acoustic music with screenings of Black & White Latin motion pictures. - HISTORY OF TANGO
Quintet of the Americas, the woodwind quintet champions of music from Latin America, are joined by world-renowned bandoneónist Daniel Binelli and tango master pianist Polly Ferman for a program of music that spans the history of tango from the habanera to Piazzolla and the modern tango. - GUSTAVO MORETTO SEPTET
Tango, Jazz, Classical Music: Gustavo Moretto's Doctorate in classical composition from Columbia University and his love of jazz, brings tango, jazz and classical music with his new septet into a rich and very unusual mix, powerful and fun at the same time. Teatro La Tea.

- The 6th Annual Latin American Piano and Song Festival of NY
A Piano Recital presented by Cesar Reyes, celebrating the anniversaries of Lecuona, Lavista and Diez-Nieto. Greenwich House Music School.
* November 23
YOUNG BRAZILIAN PIANIST ALEYSON SCOPEL
Mr. Scopel in his New York debut performs the world premiere of Almeida Prado's Celestial Charts XV, as well as works by Schubert and Mozart. Carnegie Hall - Weill Recital Hall.
* November 24
_ LACW Official Brooklyn Closing Event CANTOS DE VIDA NUEVA
Cantos de Vida Nueva features music by Chilean composer Javier Farias performed by the choral ensemble, KHORIKOS. The performance will feature video projections by New York artist, Sheri Wills and live dancing at Littlefield Performance+Art Space in Brooklyn.

- HEARTBEAT OF LATIN AMERICA/AL RITMO DEL CORAZON LATINO
Mestizo Dance Company with Harold Gutierrez and his band in a new homage to the music and dance of 22 Latin American nations! From November 15 to December 15; Fridays and Saturdays 8pm, Sundays 4pm. Thalia Spanish Theatre.

- DANCES AND MUSIC FROM PERU
Estampas Folkloricas Peru presents an amazing and unforgettable concert, with beautiful traditional dances, showing the variety of music and typical costumes from different regions of Peru. Queens Theatre.
- The 8th Annual Latin American Cultural Week Closing Event Event
Ballet Hispanico, The nation's leading Latino dance company returns to the Apollo stage, following last season's sold-out event. Reviewing last year, The New York Times wrote: "it feels like a tradition in the making. Premieres and an enthusiastic audience combine with the Theater's historic vibrations for a sense of special occasion." Highlights for this season include a seductive world premiere, inspired by the beloved Mexican celebration Dia de los Muertos, and the premiere of an all-male dance that turns a playful eye on stereotypes.. - DRESSING THE SCREEN: COSTUME DESIGN IN HOLLYWOOD
Two celebrated costume designers join us to talk about their careers in film. Delgado has collaborated with Pedro Almodovar and was nominated for an Academy Award for Les Misérables. Landis, also an Oscar nominee, worked on Michael Jackson's Thriller and curated the recent V & A exhibition, "Hollywood Costume." A signing of Landis's two most recent books will follow the presentation. Organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of Spain in New York. Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

- COMMON GROUNDS - COFFEE INSPIRED ART FROM AROUND THE WORLD, CURATED BY ANDREA ARROYO
Showcasing traditional and contemporary artists, this exhibition aims to increase awareness of the economic, political, environmental and social impact of the coffee trade in communities around the world. The show features works in an assortment of styles, including meticulously detailed oil paintings by artists from the Mayan villages of Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, as well as humorous, conceptual and political works in drawing, collage, photography, ceramic and animation created by a diverse group of international artists. - "INTERLACED MEMORIES BY "ANDREA ARROYO"
Award-winning artist Andrea Arroyo presents female-centered works that examine notions of memory, belonging and body image, in an exhibition that creates a conversation between past and present in the restored Audubon Ballroom, built in 1912 and the site of the assassination of Malcolm X in 1965. The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center.

The fair organizers have invited the most prestigious galleries from the United States, Latin America and Europe to participate in this event. Thus, PINTA will be an exclusive fair which will include the participation of fifty select art galleries showing museum-quality works representative of abstract, concrete, neo-concrete, kinetic and conceptual art, as well as of other contemporary art movements.
