August means Summer Streets in NYC. Almost 7 miles of roads are close to traffic and taken over by thousands of New Yorkers, from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park. Lots of fun, people!.
This year we have Voice Tunnel, an art installation by mexican artist Rafaél Lozano-Hemmer at the Park Avenue Tunnel, a zip line to fly above it all, a CoolStop by Chat Travieso, performances, more art, free bike and skates rides and even food, courtesy of some of the sponsors of the event.
It makes me happy to see my city coming around the idea of making our town more livable and closer to its residents!.
Summer Streets days are: August 3, 10 and 17. Hours are from 7 AM to 1 PM and I must insist on this: make it longer NYC!!!!.
Meanwhile, enjoy some of the pictures I have taken in previous years. You can also visit my only gallery > SummerStreets.
