TONY 'time' para Evita y Leap of Faith. Toda la suerte del mundo!. Extrañó que ni Martin ni Roger recibieran nominación... El premio se entrega el 10 de Junio en el Teatro Beacon. Me la pasé bien en el Teatro Thalia con el estreno mundial de La Callas & Medea. Con fantásticas actuaciones de SOLEDAD LOPEZ y KATHY TEJADA y una puesta en escena que maximiza el espacio usando luces, videos y fotografía. Las dos griegas mas famosas (faltó Elena!) se enfrentan en escena y se dan cuenta de que son más parecidas de lo que pensaban. Tienen hasta el 24 de Junio.
Otro evento imperdible es la 6ta edición del TeatroStage Fest que nos trae una cartelera llena no solo de teatro, sino algo de música, danza y actividades para los más chicos.
El Repertorio Español continua con La Gringa y En el tiempo de las mariposas; Growing up González llega a sus seis meses en la escena y continúa. Veamos:

“In The Time of the Butterflies” is the story of the courageous Mirabal sisters (Patria, Minerva and María Teresa) from the Dominican Republic. The sisters inspired resistance cells throughout the country against the dictatorial regime of Gen. Rafael Leónidas Trujillo. The ‘butterflies’, their secret code name, were brutally murdered by the regime in 1960.
Based on Julia Álvarez’s popular novel, the martyred butterflies come to vibrant life in a warm, brilliant, and dramatic production by the talented duo – playwright Caridad Svich and director José Zayas– that brought us the critically acclaimed production of Isabel Allende’s “The House of the Spirits” in 2009.

The play is a bittersweet comedy of two brothers growing up in the Puerto Rican section of the Bronx, whose coming of age is marked by the untimely death of their father. One actor plays both parts. The play is filled with the hearty characters, flavors and textures of The Bronx in the 70's and displays a very witty understanding of life.

Un espectáculo nos muestra sin pudor alguno, las intimidades de cinco féminas que atraviesan distintas circunstancias en la vida: la soltera ilusionada que busca velo y corona, la casada con el marido perfecto, la viuda liberada, la contemporánea que sólo quiere sexo, la frívola que sólo se preocupa por las líneas de expresión y la ley de gravedad, la envidiosa que quiere todo lo que tienen las demás y un hombre que nos cuenta la sencillez de la vida.
