"I guess our parents were party animals,” says bassist Arturo Guzman, who co-founded the band in 1998 with his accordion-playing brother Ricardo, joined by Richard Panta on caja vallenata, Craig Martín on guacharaca, and Dante Ruiz on cowbell. “We grew up listening to a lot of cumbia and vallenato.” As second-generation Colombian-Americans raised in what is now called Korea Town, the Brothers Guzman came to appreciate their cultural roots through the family’s record collection. But they weren’t content to stop there."

The result is a great vallenato band from Los Angeles, VERY BE CAREFUL, now in Nueva York for a couple of concerts promoting their latest production, Escape Room, from Barbés Records.

For someone like me that grew up in western Venezuela, bordering Colombia and listening to Cumbia and Vallenato left and right, Very Be Careful takes me back to all those years of música, baile y parranda, de la tradicional y de la buena. Cumbia and Vallenato are everywhere in those lands and always at the center of any celebration. ESCAPE ROOM brings a little of that to Nueva York. Visítenlos en MySpace. Y disfruten este canción: SIN CONSUELO!
