The first edition of the First Time Fest is taking place this weekend in NYC (March 1-4). The Festival celebrates first time filmmakers from all over the world and offers a Grand Prize of theatrical distribution for the winner film and full international sales representation from the renowned film distributor, Cinema Libre Studio.
Two Latino filmmakers made it into the 12 films participating in this first edition of the festival: Director Luciano Quilici with LOS QUIERO A TODOS and Director Diego Rougier with SAL.
About the films:
** LOS QUIERO A TODOS
Imagine some combination of Lawrence Kasdan's The Big Chill and François Truffaut's Day For Night, and you'll have some idea of the exceptional nature of Luciano Quillici's lyrical and contemplative I Love You All. A group of thirty-something friends reunite for a trip to the country where they mull over lost opportunities and their disaffection with the present. This accomplished film offers further proof that Argentina is one of the most exciting hotbeds in world cinema today.
Filmmaker Bio: Quilici was born in Argentina in 1974. His childhood and adolescence were divided between Buenos Aires and Italy, where he was exiled during Argentina's military dictatorship. He began directing theater at age 19, and has since moved into commercials and writing.

** SAL
A Spanish film director obsessed with making a western in Chile travels south to find a story that will salvage his screenplay, but a case of mistaken identity makes him a marked man. This gorgeous widescreen film pays loving homage to Sergio Leone while playfully subverting the western genre.
Filmmaker Bio: Diego Roguier, born in 1970 in Buenos Aires, is a well-known music video director whose clients include Enrique Iglesias, Mercedes Sosa, The Bee Gees and Charly Garcia. Since 2004, he has been based in Santiago, Chile, where he works on the sitcom Married With Children.
Other highlights include: Blumenthal, Junction, Submerge, Mongolian Bling, Headfirst, Horizon Sky, Uprising and Zipper.
The Festival is also giving the first John Huston Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinema to Director Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler and Black Swan) and is presenting First Exposure, a series of first films from now prominent filmmakers: Sofia Coppola with The Virgin Suicides, Todd Solondz with Welcome to the Dollhouse, Wes Anderson’s Bottle Rocket, Barbara Kopple with Harlan County, USA, Melvin Van Peebles with The Story of a Three-Day Pass, PI from Darren Aronofsky, The Maltese Falcon from director John Huston, Poison from Todd Haynes, Jack Goes Boating from director Philip Seymour Hoffman, Hal Hartley’s The Unbelievable Truth, and True Love from Nancy Savoca.
