Joan Soriano's critically acclaimed album El Duque de la Bachata and the documentary film about his dramatic rise to fame are two of the most exciting things to happen to bachata in a long time. Born in the rural countryside near Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, Soriano infuses steel string bachata with equal parts romance and grit. He was featured in Alex Wolfe's great musical documentary, Santo Domingo Blues and is the main subject and star in Adam Taub's documentary, El Duque (The Duke). This rare evening begins with a screening of Taub's film and transitions into a concert with Soriano and his exceptional band.
