A few days ago I found myself in the little New Amsterdam Village at Bowling Green. I tasted some delicious cheese and took in the happy atmosphere. Our life as a city started in 1609 when a Dutch colony was funded in Mannahatta. Now, 400 years later, we are celebrating the crucial contributions of New Amsterdam to what New York City has become.
NY400 has plenty to do: Ride a Dutch bike for free, go to Governors Island for a concert or a ride, visit Breukelen, the Battery, Snug Harbor. Here some highlights. It runs until Sept 20.

1- The New Island Festival : Dutch theater, performances and visual arts on Governors Island. Sept 10-20. Armin van Buuren is on for free on Sept 12!

2- Taste New Amsterdam : $24 won't get you Mannahatta Island anymore but it will get you a dutch meal deal @ over 50 restaurants. Sept 5-20

3- Bike a Dutch Bike for free: just go to the New Amsterdam Village @ Bowling Green and get it.
